Mother’s Love
DEVDAHA NATIONAL WOOD CARVING WORKSHOP
May 22-30, 2019
This sculpture depicts a mother tenderly holding her child, a simple yet powerful image that evokes profound emotions.
Inspired by the story of Yasodhara, who raised her son Rahul with unwavering love and strength despite her husband’s departure, and Queen Prajapati, who lovingly raised Siddhartha Gautam her stepson after the death of Queen Mayadevi, this artwork celebrates the boundless love of motherhood.
Through a minimalist approach, I aim to convey the timeless and universal nature of maternal love. This sculpture is dedicated to all mothers worldwide, with a special homage to the women of Devdaha.
