Kachuwa
AASTHA NATIONAL STONE SCULPTURE SYMPOSIUM
February 16 – March 2, 2021
Kachuwa (Turtle), a symbol of longevity, perseverance, protection, and healing, is revered by people worldwide. Inspired by its profound symbolism, I aimed to create a sculpture that would hold equal significance for everyone.
The stairway to Maula Kalika is a shared path for people of all ages and backgrounds, whether they’re visiting the temple or simply enjoying a leisurely walk. My sculpture, situated at the first resting point, gently encourages visitors to continue their journey with a steady pace and unwavering determination. It also serves as a symbol of support, reminding them to persevere through life’s challenges.
For those seeking spiritual significance, the sculpture can be interpreted as Kurma, one of the avatars of the Hindu god Vishnu.
